Hand painted tiles for kitchens

Art on Tiles has been in business for more than thirty years. Our company creates bespoke tile commissions for kitchens. Commissions range from a large tile mural behind an Aga to a basin splashback or just a few tile borders or single decor tiles to add  interest to an area of plain glazed tiling.

Here, a bespoke hand painted panel has been inserted into a plain glazed area, with a simple border as a frame.

Bespoke hand painted tiles

No two kitchens are the same and no two clients are the same. Considering a bespoke tile commission is a wise choice for the perfect finishing touch.

Tiles behind the Aga or stove

Tiles as a backdrop to a stove or Aga are ideal. They are washable, robust, waterproof and heatproof.  They also offer an opportunity to create a focal point within the room and draw attention to a handsome stove or range cooker. Here the client wanted to display a view over a nearby valley, featuring red kites and the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. A bespoke commission is the perfect opportunity to choose a design which is personal to you.

A good, local tile fitter will have no difficulty with installing a bespoke commission. The tiles are supplied numbered and with a clear plan for guidance.

Hand painted tiles for sink splashbacks

Tiles as a sink splashback

As a washable, waterproof decorative finish, tiles are the obvious choice. They can be decorated with a simple border, a mixture of plain and single decor or even a decorative panel to tie in with other tiled areas within the room.

We recommend a flat, modern tile rather than a rough, uneven rustic type. We also suggest minimal grout lines as these create a more practical and hygienic surface.

Here, some simple and traditional blue and white Delft-style tiles have created a fresh, pretty effect in a stove alcove. The client has personalised it with initials and dates which are special to them.
