Art on Tiles, the artisan tile company was founded in the 1980s by Jonathan Waights, a British ceramic artist who – as a teenager – was apprenticed to a leading tile-maker in a small village near Lisbon in Portugal.
On arriving in England he set up Art on Tiles where he is still the principal artist. The company has built an impressive reputation over the years with an extensive portfolio and a number of prestigious commissions.

We specialise in not specialising although the authentic and original art of hand painting onto tiles is the core of our business. In addition, Jonathan has developed a wide knowledge of tile decorating techniques which allow him to successfully create pretty much any design idea the client has in mind. He is also increasingly called upon to consult and manage the bespoke tiles required for large, complex projects such as wall tiles for restaurant and shop refits as well as ambitious interior design work for premium homes.
